Terry from asks:
I am trying to choose between Krill Oil, Fisol, Super Fisol, and Mega-DHA. My doctor has told me to add fish oil. I am unsure of the differences between these three.

With fish oil we mainly refer to two types of fatty acids commonly found in oily fish: eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which are the two main omega-3 fatty acids. Fisol, Super Fisol, and Mega-DHA are all made from fish oil.
Krill Oil, on the other end, is made from krill, a type of marine plankton. It contains the same omega-3 fatty acids of fish oil (EPA and DHA) but in krill oil, these are bound to phospholipids. This improves their bioavailability, meaning it’s easier to for the body to absorb so a smaller dose of krill oil is needed.
For general health purposes, Fisol, Super Fisol, and Krill Oil are all great options: Super Fisol contains a higher concentration of EPA and DHA compared to Fisol (200 mg EPA and 150 mg DHA per serving in Super Fisol compared to 150 mg EPA and 100 mg DHA per serving in Fisol). Your doctor will be able to recommended which supplement is right for you based on your unique situation. If you are looking for a smaller softgel, Krill Oil is a great option.
Mega-DHA differs from other Nature’s Way omega-3 supplements as it contains a higher proportion of DHA compared to EPA (338 mg EPA and 838 mg DHA per serving). Mega-DHA has been formulated with brain and eye health in mind, since DHA is required for the maintenance of normal brain function and is an essential fatty acid for eye health.* This is the product for you if you’re looking for extra support in those areas.
Fisol, Super Fisol, Krill Oil and Mega-DHA are all rigorously tested for PCBs, heavy metals (including mercury), and other impurities. We help support ocean ecosystems by using only sustainably sourced fish.
