Which Nutrients Promote Calm?

There are plenty of ways to promote feeling calm and help manage stress. Certain supplements, such as magnesium, may help support a sense of calm and replenishes stress-depleted magnesium levels.* GABA, or gamma aminobutyric acid, is a neurotransmitter that promotes relaxation.* L-theanine is fast acting (within 30-60 minutes) and can help manage stress in the moment.* Another herbal product that might help reduce stress is ashwagandha, an adaptogen that supports a positive response to everyday stressors.*

Of course, supplementation only does part of the work. Stress, whether it be emotional or physical, often triggers other physical responses in our bodies. Studies have shown that regular mindful meditation can help manage other physical aspects of stress. Setting aside time on a daily basis for yourself can go a long way. This might be via meditation, journaling, exercising, or even quiet reflection.
